Mystery Solved

A few days ago, a great mystery of the Orient was finally solved. Before I reveal the solution, let me share some background clues. As a junior in high school, a fellow peer developed a sort of, um, shall we say abnormal affinity towards me. The boy, I'll change his name to Roger, began studying at my high school after his wealthy Chinese parents sent him to the United States for educational pursuits. Coincidentally, Roger ended up in several of my classes.

The poor boy was shy, new to the country, and could barely speak a lick of English. Well, I think I was nice to him or something. BAD IDEA. Roger started liking me... or so I assumed so anyways from the roses and chocolates found on my chemistry desk every day and the I LOVE YOU LINDSAY MECHAM--FROM ROGER note flashing across the school cafeteria's message board. Not to mention that Roger was telling everyone in the school his plans to take me to China the upcoming summer where he would force me to be his bride...yikes. And then it got worse...

Suffice it to say, Roger's love grew scarier, more controlling, and threatening as the days progressed. We're talkin' death threats if I did not return his love. But for this blog post, I do not want to dwell on the scarier sides of his fetish. So back to the clues of the Orient mystery: one day, Roger brought to school a survey titled, Questions for the Darkness. One question in particular nearly unhinged me: What is her blood type? My blood type! Why did he want that information?

Because Roger was planning to force me to China and into marriage (and probably more so because I have too large an imagination) I invented all sorts of scenarios. He must only need my blood-type for an obscure, virginity sacrifice or scary, secret Communist ritual. Roger eventually turned his attention on some other unsuspecting, friendly girl leaving me at peace and rose-free. However, I wondered off and on about that unusual question for several years. Finally, last weekend, the mystery was solved. I was talking about the Roger-experience with a friend. She told me that the blood-type question is very normal in China and Japan explaining the question to equivalent to asking/knowing a person's zodiac sign. Very commonly asked.

What a relief!

That's kind of a funny story... if you take out the scary stalker stuff. :) Otherwise, really funny!

ha ha omygosh! Don't worry I would also start freaking out if someone asked me my blood type. It's cool you finally got that question answered.
