NERD ALERT!

I have been suppressing certain nerdy urges for sometime. However, I have finally begun to embrace the fact that I am a computer geek (...or at least a wannabe). Evidence: I am learning CSS not for a class and not for a job, but for me. For fun! For a pastime, hobby, etc.

If, while reading this, you hear a siren, do not fret. It is simply the, "NERD ALERT." The NERD ALERT is an instinctual warning with which I am very familiar. Every time, one witnesses something truly geeky, the NERD ALERT will sound, more as a feeling than a noise.

For some, the NERD ALERT
is attractive, strangling it's hearers
into a sea of nerdiness, much like
Homer's sirens of old.

For others (the ones who listen), the NERD ALERT protects the very, precious brain from being overworked and overheated.

Along with the NERD ALERT there is a NERD SPECTRUM ranging from the oaf (little nerdiness) to the supernerd (heckalot of nerdiness). Where one falls on the Spectrum is determined by their responses to the NERD ALERT. Most of us fall towards the middle of the spectrum, sometimes responding to the NERD ALERT while at other times fleeing from it's iron grip.

Really--it is an ingenious system. After following the Pied Piper, known as the NERD ALERT, I have not always been disappointed. For instance, had I not answered the NERD ALERT's call, I would never have been a member of the chess team, won the 4th grade spelling bee, or graduated high school for that matter. However, the NERD ALERT has at times saved me from potential danger and brain fryage. For example, heeding it's warning has always saved me from a calculus or physics induced brain hemorrhage.

If you are unfamiliar with this system (even instincts can malfunction), beware as you acquaint yourself with it. Choose wisely which NERD ALERT's you follow. Some will bring you happiness, while others will strangle you just like Ulysses' sirens (you'll even think nerdiness is what you want--scary). Keep in mind, you may not be as lucky as Ulysses either who had shipmates to rescue him.

Now after that little tangent of an anecdote, I am onto my main objective. To practice CSS, I have been experimenting with this blog's html. After my last post, I wanted to see if I could post pictures and videos in a specific format. I've included two pictures in this post, so now I must include a video!

Last night, some friends and I were talking about global warming and the green-house effect. One of my friends, showed us this video. The caption of the video on YouTube says, "This lady will make you feel smart." If it is not a joke (I think it may be), this person falls somewhere on the oaf side of the NERD SPECTRUM. Enjoy:

Sadly, there are some unfortunate people in this world. Or as Brent would say, people who were dropped on their heads as babies.

Umm, I think that most of the time I lean towards supernerd. Oopps. But, what is CSS? You have completely lost me in the tech lingo.
