"It's uncategorical, a fuel burning oracle, a fantasmagorical machine!"
Recognize these lyrics? They are from a childhood favorite movie of mine, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. If you have not seen it, consider yourself deprived. And fix the situation soon!!
Starring Dick Van Dyke the film sports wit, imagination, color, melodramatic characters (including zany villains), adventure, music, etc. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a car driven and owned by Dyke's character. It happens to be a car that not only drives but has the abilities to float and fly! It is amazing! For more details and full synopsis visit http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062803/.
After a lengthy introduction, I better get to my main objective in writing this post. One day last week, I had the opportunity to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Coincidentally the very next day, I saw this video on the news. There's a good chance y'all have seen this, but it is so incredible I had to share it. The video shows a real-life flying car! Yes--real life, not green screen! A few more words describing Chitty can also be used to describe this modern day, real fantasmagorical machine, "it's more than spectacular. To use the vernacula, it's a wizard." Just watch and see:
It is a slow aircraft, and I would still prefer to have my own little cessna than this. However, it is so cool, and I hope this becomes the prototype for future developments. In case you have never seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, here is a video of him flying:
While writing this post, I discoverd that one of the screenplay writers was Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG). No wonder I like this movie so much. Well, that's all for now folks.
