Yellow Scarf

I love the yellow scarf I'm wearing in this picture. I thought of it last night as I finished the book A Summer to Die by Lois Lowry. Meg, the protagonist, learns (among many other things) that bad things can happen to good people when her older sister, Molly, receives a weighty diagnosis. As Easter approaches, Molly is stuck in the hospital, too sick to leave, so Meg decides to paint her an Easter Egg. She paints the egg yellow. Yellow...so that Molly will have something bright and cheerful amid the flat, colorless walls of the hospital. My yellow scarf, a Christmas gift from my sister, was made with similar reasoning. Not long after Christmas, my mom told me that my sister had chosen yellow yarn because she felt I needed something bright and cheerful during my very sick days. I love the scarf. And I love my sister.

Lindsay that is such a wonderful story. I love how you and K look out for each other. I hope you are both doing great and not too busy with school. Thanks for putting me in a Christmas mood and reminding me of how great it is to have a sister :)

Actually it was L that made the scarf, but K drew me a beautiful picture of a flower and wrote me a poem while I was really sick. :)

Can't wait to see you!

Glad you corrected Mimi! I need credit for doing nice things occasionally too! I'm happy you like the scarf.
