News

First, last week, I received my 1st cohort assignment to the Nebo School District comprised of schools in Springville, Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Salem, Payson, and Santaquin. A cohort is a semester which includes an entire month for the students to observe and shadow teachers prior to student teaching. Some of the schools in this district work closely with professors and researchers at Brigham Young University (BYU), so I will have the opportunity to observe some cutting-edge teaching methods in practice.

Second, my children's literature professor asked me to send a review to the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt publishing company of THIS BOOK that was published earlier this year. I am very excited, though I will not have time to work on the review before Christmas. It is a contemporary realistic, fictional piece for young adults. I am thrilled about this opportunity.

Third, I would like to tell everyone that The Story of Mankind authored by Hendrik Willem van Loon is perhaps the most boring book I have ever tried to read. It was the first--the very first--Newbery Medal book given it's award in 1922, and I'm not sure why. In fact, I would rather read The Hobbit and all 310 verbose, sluggish-paced pages inundated with superfluous descriptions. A book with which I have obvious issues and never finished (I should give it another try). Nonetheless, I will continue to read The Story of Mankind in my journey through the history and pages of all Newbery Medal books (Why did I ever set that goal?).

Lastly, I now have dark hair, VERY dark. Picture below.
