Classy. Tasteful. Dignified. Sweet. These words seem to have no place in descriptions of today's bridal shower. And I am done; I'm throwing in the towel. If I am invited to one more vulgar and/or tawdry shower I will scream!! Let me tell you why.
The last two bridal showers I was invited to were themed, "Sex on the Beach," and "Sexy Housewife Bridal Shower." The first invitation implored guests to come bearing gifts of lingerie and even included her sizes. The invitation ended with this little dictum, "...she likes feathers and leather and handcuffs. In case you need ideas. :)" At the shower, the bride kept saying she was thankful for all the "raunchy gifts" she received. The shower seemed never-ending, but luckily I had a date with B providing an early escape and chance to regain my sanity. After that bridal shower, I didn't even bother with the second--the sexy housewife one. But here is the invitation (bride's name has been blurred):
She "can't be good all the time?" WHY NOT?! Does marital intimacy also mean being naughty and bad? Oh, and I just remembered a third bridal shower for an old roommate of mine. Upon hearing the plans for this doozy, I knew I would be MIA. However, a friend of mine reported that the bridal shower was complete when Carmen Electra's strip aerobics how-to video was played. (yuck)I am not a prude. Although, I still believe marital intimacy can and definitely should be Classy, Tasteful, Dignified, and Sweet! Intimacy should always be an act of love NOT lust--even within marriage. That being said, shouldn't bridal showers also be sweet?
I just don't get it. And I'm sick of it.

Oh my Lindsay! I have never been to a bridal shower like that! Ew! I would be so embaressed! I didn't have a bridal shower like that. Well, I agree with you completely!
Oh man, Linz! This is fantastically written, just so you know. Your voice is so strong when you're annoyed. I love it! ;) Very very funny. And so weird! What's up with these sex-themed showers?
